A Piece of Art: Assassin’s Creed – A Spirituality Teaching Game

The title of this article might confuse some people, however, we luckily don’t have to explain much. It will be most probably explained with the following quote of Assassin’s Creed Life LessonsAbout page:

I bet many of you don’t consider the Assassin’s Creed series as just normal games. Because they’re not, right? They’re something more.

They contain fantastic characters you can identify with, stories you can relate to. Of course, not always literally. I mean, how many of you kill a son of the pope, for example?

I’m talking about the things the characters teach us — such as strength, friendship or forgiveness. Who would love to have a real friend like Leonardo da Vinci? I know I would.

As a big Assassin’s Creed fan, I totally agree with these lines and can’t say anything more.

For that purpose, to show why Assassin’s Creed gets posted on this blog as “a piece of art”, we forward you to the Assassin’s Creed Life Lessons blog:

As Ubisoft wrote on their Assassin’s Creed Facebook page:

It compiles a variety of lessons learned from playing games in the Assassin’s Creed series into a set of motivational messages… which sounds cheesy but is actually totally awesome! Read a couple and you’ll see!

Thanks, Ubisoft, for giving us a game which teaches us important as well as the most simple things we’ve forgotten a long time ago.

A Piece of Art: Woodkid – Iron

Through the game trailer of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations we’ve come across an – in our opinion – amazing soundtrack which we want to share with you.

The song is by the artist Woodkid and called Iron. The genre of his music can be called indie (independent music), alternative and pop.

Without further ado we present you Woodkid‘s music video to Iron:

Gangnam Style – How Craziness United Earth’s Masses as Never Before

Throughout history there were a lot of revolutions and unitings, many risings and fallings of civilisations. But no matter how much people united and became one, it was always limited to a certain environment. Nowadays we have the internet, and although it often is misused as well as abused, it lets us get endless informations and know about many events and happenings all around the world. Many so-called “internet phenomena” became known already, and Gangnam Style is one of those things which became known worldwide in a short time with the help of the internet.

Looking at the video and listening to the music, the most will find it awesome. The beat is great and creates an appetite for moving and dancing, the gestures and actions in the video are hilarious and especially funny to the “new” generation with ADHD and other similar so-called “disorders” – and the lyrics don’t matter to many people anyway. With all these things, a “perfect” party song was created, to share, laugh, dance and have fun.

Park Jae-sang aka PSY didn’t expect this song to become so popular all around the world. The song was made as parody itself – “Gangnam Style” refers to the lavish and luxurious lifestyle associated with the Gangnam district of the South Korean capital city Seoul, where the music video was also shot. In a twisted sense of humor, PSY claims himself to be “Gangnam Style” while everything about the song, the dance, the looks and the music video is far from being such a high class. PSY intended the song to be the way it is: People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim that they are “Gangnam Style” – it’s only the posers and wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are “Gangnam Style”, so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they’re not. “Oppan Gangnam Style” has been translated as “Big brother in Gangnam style“; “Oppa” is a Korean expression used by females to refer to an older male friend or older brother.

“Gangnam Style” moved a lot in the world: Several known stars danced or attempted the horse-dance, a lot of funny parodies were made by random people, and many “illegal” flash mobs were formed in various places around the world to dance all together to the song. Furthermore, the dance moves were attempted by many notable political leaders such as the British Prime Minister David Cameron, U.S. President Barack Obama and United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon who hailed it as a “force for world peace“. On December 21, 2012, “Gangnam Style” became the first online video to record a billion hits on the internet.

Here are some of the best YouTube videos associating with Gangnam Style:

We definitely need more such sort of things in our world – just going out, meet many other, random people, and just dance and have fun. But considering that such actions are normally actually “illegal” shows that happiness and welfare of the common people does not have a high priority – and that’s a sad thing that surely has to change sooner or later.

Speaking of the devil… Many americans hate and/or are against PSY because he sung an anti-american song, among other things »Kill those fucking yankees, slowly and painfully«. PSY has apologized already and explained: »The song I featured on in question from eight years ago was part of a deeply emotional reaction to the war in Iraq and the killing of two Korean schoolgirls that was part of the overall antiwar sentiment shared by others around the world at that time. While I’m grateful for the freedom to express one’s self, I’ve learned there are limits to what language is appropriate and I’m deeply sorry for how these lyrics could be interpreted. I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused by those words.«

However, many americans aren’t happy with this statement and call his song – no joke – anti-american as well as anti-christian. But if we take a look at the other side… Americans live in a land they stole from native americans. Americans easily call oriental people terrorists because of 9/11 – Indians as well, althought they never had anything to do with it – while many still haven’t checked the facts proven which lead to different guilty ones. US soldiers stood up in public because they’ve seen their actions they’ve made in other countries during war as terroristic acts and couldn’t or didn’t want to take it anymore. And last but not least, if the US Army would be responsible for the death of two girls of my country, I would probably do similar as or worse than PSY did, and so would most probably the majority of americans. My point is: People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. We are ALL humans, made of qualities and mistakes. NONE of us was ever born as Mr. or Mrs. Perfect. We all make mistakes, especially when there are a lot of emotions involved, but to make mistakes is NO shame. It just becomes a shame when we don’t learn from them.

Now that we’ve talked about that, let’s go on…

Personally, what we like most about PSY is his humbleness. Although he became a millionaire and known worldwide with his song “Gangnam Style”, he managed to stay humble, unlike many others. We hope he will stay like that and loyal to himself.
We should all be crazier sometimes – in a good and funny way, regardless of what others may think or say about us.

And if you still hate PSY or Gangnam Style after seeing how it was already able to unite us all… well…

gangnam style haters gonna hate
